August 5, 201114 yr Hello,I have been looking into buying a new system for a couple of months now and have come up with a spec. However I would like to hear your opinions on it and would be interested to know if I could improve it. This is what I have: Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-960 (3.20GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache Motherboard ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI Memory (RAM) 8GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB) Graphics Card 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti - DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready Memory - 1st Hard Disk 1TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD10EARS, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE OK so this system altogether is £810 which I think is very reasonable. However I am prepared to upgrade the following:-RAM (up to 24GB)-Hard drive (maybe add a 2nd HDD: 128GB SSD)-Graphics card (GTX570? Is it worth it? This is +£100 so would like your input on this please). I will be running Windows 7 64-bit and will be overclocking my i7... Thanks in advance,Jack
August 5, 201114 yr Why would you upgrade the ram up to 24GB? FSX only uses 4GB max so 8GB is more than fine :) If I was you I wouldn't pay 100 pounds just for a new videocard because the one you have now, is more than fine. Greetings, Shane Waanders
August 5, 201114 yr Author Sorry I don't think I made it clear. This is the system I am going to buy. I haven't got it yet. Thanks, Jack
August 5, 201114 yr I'd swap that i7 out with an i7-2600k and the SB architecture. Get yourself a good sturdy 1155 mobo (Sabertooth for example) and stick to the Sany Bridge.SSD's are imo worth it, they make a WORLD of difference. 8gb of RAM should be perfectly fine for FSX use. Same goes for the 560 Ti, you won't see much gain from swapping with a 570 in FSX, but again, it's up to what else you do.
