DVD Data Question

Featured Replies

I do not have a DVD player on my computer. When a newly released title, like the RealScene title that is being advertised in the AVSIM store, is being released on a "DVD data set", am I to presume that I would have no way of being able to get the data onto my computer since I do nat have a DVD player on my computer? I hope I still can somehow! Thanks.Chris Catalano

You'll need to either add a DVD drive or replace your existing CD drive if you want to use DVD discs...there's no way your CD Rom could read that DVD disc. It's not expensive; a DVD player for the PC is aprox

I'd agree. It's time to upgrade. The Dodo and the five-and-a-quarter inch floppy are gone. New machines now don't have three-and-a-half's, either. Next to go will be the CD burners. I've already replaced mine with a DVD reader/burner, although I've kept the CD reader because it's faster than either of the burners. The DVD reader/burners are fully compatable with CD's, so you don't lose any capability by upgrading. The comment above about how much more you can back up on a DVD is worth thinking about, too. I've got so much FS stuff that even CD's are too small for frequent backups. And another non-FS thought - if you've got a camcorder and a drawer full of baby videos, you really should be transferring those to DVD. The tape has a much shorter lifetime, and those players will be going out of style.
