People, Yesterday I upgraded my system from an Intel Dual Core 3.0 ghz to an Athlon X3 445 3.1 Ghz on an AMD Chipset. I did an Overclock to around 3.7 Ghz stable and then I reverted back to my 3.1 Ghz and actually now I do not remember the settings. When I Oc'ed to 3.7 with other changes I got a tremendous boost in FPS from 20 fps to straight 40-60 fps and all high sets. So after I reverted back to 3.1 Ghz definitely FPS dropped quite low , then I went back to 3.7 ghz but as I do not remember my settings I am not getting those 40-60 fps. Now here is what is funny, I have installed NL-2000 scenery , here I don't get anything above 15-16 fps but when I fly at KLGA (NY) I get 17-23 fps and sometimes 29. NL-2000 does not contain much 3d buildings. Where NY is like full of 3d buildings. I have not tweaked my fsx.cfg for the new installation, I have the FPS limiter but no difference. I AM SCRATCHING MY HEAD.

What dual core was that? problem is that a 3rd core won't help all that much, certanly not a 50% as the core count increase may suggestWhat's strange there is that you got such a huge boost from a 20% overclock at first Next time you may want to post in the hardware section or the thread will probably get locked or deleted

OOhh yeah posted in the wrong section now that is even funnier. Can I move this post to the hardware section ? That was an Intel Dual E5700 on a G31M 2GB DDR-667. I can unlock the 4th core on the athlon x3 445 and it is stable but I do not want to take any chances.

Not worth it for FSX. That's my point, moving from a E5700 to an Athlon II is more of a side grade since FSX makes very poor use of multicore sad.pngCouldn't you OC the E5700 to some 4GHz?

Nah the E5700 would not go above 3.6 Ghz anything above that clock it creates problems as the board was a G31 ,but I am still happy with the Athlon II x3 445 and it's on the AMD chipset I will figure it out what changes I made in the CMOS. I have put the post in the Hardware Section. Thanks.
