Crash to Reboot on takeoff

Featured Replies

Hello, i am having a complete computer reboot crash while taking off on MSFX. I can fly all day with nominal video settings when i start in the air, however when i start a mission on the ground (even on the lowest possible settings), it will load fine and i can sit on the runway with no problem, but almost instantaneously after i start throttling for take off the computer reboots. This happens reguardless if i am using max throttle or incremental throttleing, when im using my joystick, my yoke and throttle, or my keyboard. i do not get any error any stuttering, i have a solid framerate. it only happens on the runway 0-2 seconds after hitting the throttle. i am running windows xp 32bit, i thought at first it was possible a memory problem so i bought another gig of ram and it still occurs. video card is an ati 5330. any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. I think you get a BSOD but your computer restarts so fast that you cant see it. Richt click on My Computer -> settings -> advanced systemsettings -> click the third settings button and untick the checkbox "reboot automatically". The next time you will see the Blue Screen because your computer does not restart. Then you can post the error code of the bluescreen...

Do you have the /3GB switch turned on? For XP 32 bit systems, this is mandatory when using FSX. You can get details about setting up this memory switch (and info about memory usage in FSX) at the following link: http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic29041.html . If that doesn't fix it or you have the 3GB switch installed, tell us what your system Event Viewer is telling you when you have these crashes. What module (.dll) crashed? If you had a Blue Screen crash, get the free Blue Screen Viewer (Google Blue Screen Viewer), run it and tell us what program or .dll caused the BSOD. Hope this helps! Best regards,Jim
