Panels.dll problem

Featured Replies

Good Morning!I just installed FS9. I was able to run it briefly but with no 2D panels in any of the aircraft. After I got out of the program and back in, now all I get is a fatal error complaining about the Panels.dll file (sorry I didn't write down the exact message). I can't even start the program now. I tried searching the cab files on the disks and found an earlier version of the panels.dll file in cab3 but after replacing the current one in the Modules folder I still got the same result. Should I return the disks to the store and get a fresh set? I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it twice now. I am running Windows ME, I have installed DX9 and the Windows Media player they recommend.GW

You didn't say what graphics adapter you were using, NVidia, ATI. Also you didn't indicate which version of DirectX9.0 you are using.DirectX9.0b is the latest and is available from the Microsoft Update website.Blank 2D panels were a problem with some NVidia drivers. If you are using an NVidia chipset, visit www.nvidia.com and download the latest drivers. Also check to see what MOBO controller chips you have, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi. Check in Device Manager, System Devices for entries:Intel CPU to AGP ControllerVIA CPU to AGP Controlleretc.Use the directX diagnostic and test your graphics adapter. Press start, run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the diagnostic stabilize, then test the graphics adapter under the display tab.W. Sieffert

I wasn't sure if some of this information was necessary or if folks would just say get a new copy of the disks. I am running DirectX 9.0a. I'll go and download the latest. I use an nVidia card. I'll go check there site as well. I have SiS controller chips. I'll run dxdiag and let you know the results. Thanks for your knowledgable (sp?) reply.GW
