August 26, 201114 yr Hi Fellas, I'm afraid I need some "hand holding" here. I have ASE and use it in combination with REX and FSX. I have learned how to create WX snapshots but I am having a terrible time linking screen shots to those snapshots. The ALT/Print Screen combo doesn't appear to work on my keyboard with Windows 7 home premium (64 bit) so I am taking screen shots using the Snipping Tool. I am saving that screen shot to a file entitled, "FSX WX Photos". I have been creating all the appropriate textures in REX and then installing them in FSX (I have disabled the REX WX engine). I then close REX and start ASE. I configure the WX in ASE and allow ASE to start FSX. After flying a bit in FSX and concluding I am satisfied with the WX and the textures, I take a screenshot using the snipping tool and place that JPG in the folder listed above. I then place FSX on my taskbar and bring up ASE and go to the graphics tab where I select the button to create a snapshot. I can't seem to direct ASE to the folder that has my newly created photo. I have even gone to the folder that has my new photo and right-clicked on it and selected "copy" in the hopes it would put the photo on a clipboard and ASE would then recognize the photo. My problem is I can not seem to find some explicit directions to help me either get ASE to look in that folder or to transfer that JPG photo to a location that ASE will recognize. I may not even be following the correct routine to accomplish saving a snapshot and assigning the appropriate screenshot. If someone has the time to instruct me on just how to accomplish this task, I really would appreciate hearing from him. Thanks! John John
August 27, 201114 yr Author Hey Jim, Is there a way to import JPG screen shots taken with the snipping tool into ASE? I posted the above yesterday and nobody seems to have a quick answer. I'm hoping you guys have come across this problem and have found a way around it. Thanks! John John
August 27, 201114 yr Hi, To do what with the screen shots in ASE? Using the snipping tool should already insert them for the preview. I can't imagine any other use unless you have something else in mind!
August 27, 201114 yr Author Hi Jim, Yes, I'm trying to attach a screenshot to the newly created snapshot so that the screenshot comes up as a preview How do I place the screenshot into ASE? When I select the appropriate WX snapshot from the list and then press the "save screenshot" button, nothing happens. I was expecting to be able to browse to the folder with the appropriate screenshot but I can't. If you could please outline the procedure for moving a screenshot already taken by the snipping tool into ASE and then assigning that screenshot to the appropriate WX snapshot I would be very grateful. Just to reiterate, here is what I am doing: 1. create WX in ASE WX configuration page2. load WX into FSX3. use snipping tool to capture a screenshot (I am using the snipping tool because I cannot get the "print screen" button on my keyboard to work in Windows 7 home premium - 64 bit)4. save that screenshot to a folder outside of ASE At that point I become "stumped". When I bring up ASE and go to the graphics page and press the "save screenshot" button nothing happens. I have tried bringing up the screenshot and then placing the ASE window over the picture in the hopes ASE would recognize the photo but nothing works as yet. Thanks for your help! John John
August 27, 201114 yr Author Hey Jim - I figured out what I wasn't doing correctly. I was going ahead and saving the screenshot to a folder. What I should have been doing was to bring up the snipping tool, use the cursor to create the screenshot dimensions and then bring up the ASE graphics window over the newly created but not yet saved screenshot. At that time I needed to press the "save screenshot" button. When I did that, ASE captured the screenshot and placed it in the preview window. Thanks for your response, I appreciate your interest in getting back to me. Regards, John John
