ATI HD 4850 1 meg v ATI HD 4670 512 meg

Recommended Posts

I have these two video cards. The 4670 seems to have more cores & seems to be a little faster then the 4850 with 1 meg. I don't quite know what to make of it since the 4670 is the older card. Also the 4850 runs at about 43C at idle while the 4670 runs at 57C at idle. Is the temperature a concern? Which card would you use? Thanks. Pat Callaghan

The 4850. It beats the other card considerably.

Thanks for the response. I was wrong on the temps. The 4850 runs at 57C at idle. Last night I ran FSX & it got up to 79C. Is that a problem? Pat

No. There should be some form of manual fan control in the software. Just increase the fan a bit if you feel its getting too hot

Thanks. I think the Catalyst software has fan control. Pat

OK, so I have the 4850 in & did a test flight from PDX-SEA. Temps did not get above 67C with manual fan control. Then I get out I have some graphics issue in firefox. See screenshots. well I don;t know how to attach a screenshot so I think I will just go back to the 4670. Pat
