My computer is custom built all the parts picked by me. And I believe that may be the issue. These two things have been happening. This computer is new (maybe two months old as well as all the components) 1) My computer makes a loud click (just one click) everytime I press the power button and every time I shut it down. (Defective HDD?) 2) Occasionally when I turn on the computer, everything is powered up all the lights come on, then it pauses and everything goes dark, and then back on (in a matter of a few seconds)

Ya it passed the test. So Maybe nothing is wrong. Maybe its not the HDD.

Mine clicks too. I think its the disk arm moving onto/off of the disk and the disk starting/stopping

How often does it happen?

maybe once every two weeks or so. it just happened yesterday after I restarted the computer.

I wouldn't worry too much then. I sometimes have that happen to me too and I've tried everything (or at least I think so)It's a Sandy Bridge or P67 quirk
