Non-US Enhancements

Featured Replies

Well, I decided to take some time off from bugs in this version of FS and was wondering about the next version. With all the folks on this forum from outside the US I was wondering what you'd like to see in the next version. Honestly I don't know too much about what aviation is like "over there" but here's a little list I came up with. Anyone care to add-on (with constructive comments if you don't mind)?(Oh, it would also be good to know what country you're from in your post!)* Airbus: Okay, this is low-hanging fruit but if so, which one(s)? If you could have only one, which one, and why?* ATC: Different accents for sure but what about the logic? There are lots of different rules/procedures that could be modified, but which ones would have the most impact? I've heard there are different standards for setting the altimeter for the flight levels but what else?* Airports: Any airports that MS hasn't done in high-detail that they should. I think Frankfurt's a no-brainer (flew through there once--very cool terminal). I'd also love to see Copenhagen.* Lessons/videos: Right now we have Rod Machado (and his jokes!) and John and Marthy King. Are there equivalent personalities where you're from that you'd like to see/hear teaching about FS? (And anyone from the UK, who is this Mark Evans guy that did the series about building a kit plane? Is he a local personality?)* Flights: FS has a very saved flights outside the US but are there any really cool areas that you'd like to get others to fly in?What else? Maybe we could come up with a well thought out list and email it Microsoft. If not, then at least it's fun to speculate.

Interesting posting, so here are my thoughts:1. More detailed airports: YES!!! EDDF is a real shame. But the smaller fields could use some attention as well. I do most of my flying in the NW of the US, because most of the smaller GA fields have at least some taxiways and one or two buildings. It's so disappointing to arrive at an airfield that only consists of a runway, nothing else, like is the case with most European fields.2. Accents & Lessons: I don't really care about them.3. Flights: It would really be cool if there were a lot more of these predefined flights, showing you places all over the world. Africa and Asia are totally neglected, I'm sure there would be some interesting areas as well.4. Aircraft: An Airbus 320 would be cool, but I don't think that will happen. What about a European GA plane? I'd love to see a Diamond DA40! Diamond Aircraft is an international company, but they started in Austria.

Ahh, you mean a beauty like this one?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/57351.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/57352.jpgI've been lucky and got three weeks of practical training at Diamond Aircraft at EDFE. Sure nice planes they got. Also a neat BE58 in their hangar. ;-)I could post more pics if you want (I don't right now since it would get too off-topic me thinks), but I think I don't have more of the 40, since I mainly worked with the DA/DV20s.

My wish list---Aircraft: Some more military types- perhaps a Tornado, C-17 - I'm not asking for just EU types.Airports:Stretching it a bit but 3 or 4 good quality Aircraft carriers - perhaps with the ability to be positioned where required by the user.(rather than stuck in one place like the arrcab fleet)Instruments: Autopilots as standard equipment for helicopters.ATC:Not worried - don't use it - fly online with VATSIM instead.Flights/Accents/Lessons: not bothered- don't use the preset flights .I realise the things I've asked for are all available now as addons (In fact I've got them) with the exception of "moveable " aircraft carriers but wouldn't it be nice if these things came as part of the package.Dave

Coming from Denmark, I would like to see more airports in scandinavia especially the GA fields, and perhaps one or two big airports like Copenhagen or Stockholm...they are really the entry and exit points up here. The accents would be a nice choice, but I don't really care.European planes would be cool, maybe a Saab fighter or an Airbus.I would also like to see some more detail in the landscape, I mean the Alps look like a couple of hills and the Norwegian fjords and mountains is a joke.

My vote goes to better landclass and localised architecture and flora...some parts of Europe such as Greece are really awful in this version. Also localised ATC would be nice... Actually I think MS should modify their language file to allow for voices to be heard at specific areas only(the ATC SDK prohibits that currently).Kind regards,

ATC: Well, the accents would be nice. However, the procedures really need more flexibility. For instance, FS can't do NZ style ground control (where ground handles departing flights and the tower handles arrivals). Even if you put the tower frequency into the ground list as well, you get told to 'contact ground' rather than 'taxi to gate 3 this frequency'. This would help get the AI to the gate quick enough too, as they pause while contacting ground. But the really cool thing to have in ATC would be VFR procedure arrivals. Ok, they'd need turned off for newbies, but it would be great to have them.Intersection departures and multiple crossing runways for AI.Flights: Well, an approach to NZQN or NZWN would be fun (if anyone is interested, find NZFS150.zip and then take a look at NZQN, or set winds 35 at 300 and severe turbulence and try the ILS at NZWN; that's realistic conditions for that airport!)
