March 7, 200422 yr I ran into a problem when trying to install Geof Applegate's Beech 35/C33 Debonair freeware add-on to my FS2004. The download wouldn't install because it only recognizes FS2002 as a valid application into which to install itself.Does anyone know a work-around, or does anyone know of a good Bonanza or Debonair (older version of the Bonanza) add-on that works with FS2004? I see that Carenado has a Bonanza F33A, but it, too was written for FS2002. The update to bring that add-on up to FS2004 requires that the FS2002 program first be installed - kind of a Catch 22 for people who don't own FS2002.I am an IFR student and fly a '67 Debonair and would like my flight sim practice to be as realistic as possible. Thanks for your help.
March 7, 200422 yr Try unzipping it to a temporary folder. Then copy and paste the "Beech_Debonair" folder into your FS9 Aircraft folder. Worked for me. There may be gauges that have to be copied into your Gauges folder, I don't recall. There is an FS9 update file available for Geoff's Debonair also.Jim
March 7, 200422 yr Hi,Are you sure that the update for Carenado's Bonanza F33A requires that FS2002 is installed? I realize the update is payware. Have you purchased it? Did it come with instructions on how to install it? You could probably fake the update into thinking you have FS2002 installed by one or two steps.Create a dummy file in your 'Flight Simulator 9' folder named 'FS2002.cfg'(Right-click while in the folder --> New --> Text document). It doesn't have to contain anything. In other words it can be a zero byte size file. Then if the installer for the update allows you to browse to your Flight Simulator 9 folder then browse to it and see if it will install to that location. If that doesn't work then create a folder stucture of...H:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002and then create the dummy FS2002.cfg file as I instructed above in this FS2002 folder. Install the update in there and then copy anything the update installed to the same respective folders in your Flight Simulator 9 folder structure.By the way, I'm the author of the little update for Geof Applegate's B33. The filename for it in the Avsim library is: b33fs9.zipHope that helps,Jim
March 7, 200422 yr You definitely don't need FS2002 installed to install Carenado's Bonanza. I downloaded and installed it into FS9. The only downside is, if you don't own the FS2002 version of the Bonanza, you have to purchase it first, then purchase the FS2004 update. Makes it a little more expensive that way, but it's a real nice plane.Jim
March 7, 200422 yr Author Sounds to me like you might be trying to install the original file that had a self installer when fs2002 was the only game in town.Try this file (no installer):http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=25999and then install the update for fs2004 here by Jimmy Richards:http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=38004Let us know if it works out :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
March 8, 200422 yr Hey Jim! Thanks for the update of Goeff's Beech. It was my favorite in fs2002 and I couldn't get it to work in fs9. I tried numerous times from scratch but to no avail. Finally, with one last download and your update I have it flying in fs9. The Deb and Flight 1's Archer are my favorite singles and I appreaciate your getting it to work in fs9.Best regards,Rob AbernathyRedding, CA
March 8, 200422 yr Author Thanks for the nice words about the Deb Rob.The Deb and I landed in Redding on 7/28/94 for some radio work(had lunch at a Chinese rest. in the terminal)-then back to Chester Rogers on the other side of Mt. Lassen. She is just now up for sale as I am moving on to a Baron. Hard to do after a 11 year relationship but I will at least be able to keep the virtual relationship :-) Now at work on a fs B55 cockpit....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Look forward to seeing the B55 cockpit you have started on. I have decided to try my hand at doing a paint job. It'll probably take me quite a while to learn my way around Photoshop though. ;-)Cheers,Jim
March 9, 200422 yr Goef, The resturant is called "Chu's" and is still there. Great food! Funny you mentioned Rogers. I almost had Richard Goldstein convinced to make it a GeoRender airport when we talked together at Tahoe during the Avsim Conf. :-) We could sure use one of his sceneries in N. Calif to go with all that PNW stuff. ;-) Glad to hear you're working on a Baron for fs9, will be looking forward to it.Best, Rob
March 9, 200422 yr Author Rodgers would be great-or even Gasner-what a beautiful area to fly! It looks like the new Mega scenery N . California scenery may cover that area so I am keeping my fingers crossed.Order me some hot and sour soup!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
