Probst 727 panel...little question ...

Featured Replies

hi there,i am using the Probst PANEL for the 727,with the FFX model, and the CIVA ins.i have one little question:on the tachometer are 5 white speedbugs, but i can not figure out where the clickspot is for the middle one....only thing i want to know is:does it move?!,cos i cannot get it to move, and thus i can not set my bugs at the appropriate speeds for t/o and landing.info appreciated...btw,i honestly don't understand why people pay for the Captain Sim one,it looks great, but this one does too!nice breakaway from my beloved DC8 ;-)see ya

"btw,i honestly don't understand why people pay for the Captain Sim one,it looks great, but this one does too!"LOL, yeah I paid for it, and I don't understand why either....lol.This may sound stupid but are you using the version 3 or version 4 panel ?

Regards,

Brian Doney

hello sir, first let me assure you that you do not sound stupid when you ask thatquestion:it is the v4 with autothrottle and updated with the xml ref gauges.only the speedbug in the middle doesn't want to move,so i'm kind of puzzled.thank you so far,

Hello All,The Probst panel is really a nice work. I have in in a hybrid 727 myself, but I don't fly it much any more since CS came out with the 1.5 release. The reason why people buy the CS model is becaue it is the most authentic example of a 727 that anyone has done to this point. The Graphics are beautiful, the deminsions are correct and with the exception of a slight hickup on the approach nose attitude, (which is easialy fixed), it flies like the real thing. Some people don't like the aircraft because it doesn't handle like the default 737 of FS. Well, Having flown a 737 right before I retired, I can tell you, the default 737 doesn't fly like a 737 either..When I'm lazy and want an esay flight on a '27' I use my hybrid model, which is the CS aircraft and Richards panel. When I wish to do it right, and by the numbers . . .I use the complete CS package.Best to all,Clayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"

Brian, thank you very much,i'll try that;-)Clay,i do honestly believe CS makes great stuff, and i know for sure the default 737 is not like a real one,i'm not bashing CS,infact,i think they're one of the few that have the guts to bring out an airplane without FMC,so you can fly the way pilots have done before fmc/gps etc became standard.the main issue i have with the CS plane is the fact i can not use the Freeware INS,as i like that thingy very much, and think it's historically correct,as i expect at least some 727's to have had these.however,i'm still intending to buy the package and check it out, albeit only for the -100 model,as i cannot find a decent FFX Reeve Aleutian repaint(yeah yeah,i know they flew -100's)(might have to do it myself heh heh)btw,i do not think the Probst panel is an easy one,it is really a work of art,and i sometimes find it hard to believe he released this as freeware.using the Charles Fox dynamics, with RP's panel, and FFX model and sounds,i truly believe i do have a really nice package.but then again,we also have HJG with scores of terrific classic jetliners...one could easily become a spoiled brat hehehe.fly safe,

I agree Tom, and I wasn't trying to bash CS either. The 3D model of the CS aircraft is second to none, and the VC, well you've seen the pictures I'm sure. All in all they did an excellent job representing this aircraft.I guess for me, the only problem I have with the CS offering is the panel, which in my opinion is a pain to use. That's my problem, however; not CS's. We clamor for more realism, the CS 727 definitely delivers that. For me, it just pushes over that limit of what is fun, and at times becomes tedious to use. Totally MY perspective, your mileage may vary.Long live PIC !

Brian, that's exactly what i mean...it looks great, and the vc is awesome...but i cannot install the freeware ins in it,so it's kinda useless to me ;-)oh,thanks for the tip btw,it worked like a charm, and i'm really enjoying this little monster ;-)regards,

I haven't tried Richard's panel in FS9 yet. Does it work?ThanksBlairCYOW

i believe you should be able to get it to work, however,as i'm flying fs2003,i'm not sure about it.just give it a try->put all the gauges in the panel folder, then put fssound.dll in the modules folder, and then get your fs9.cfg,and put in a section{old modules}<-note:these brackets must be square brackets!FSsound.dll=1then go fly,to see if it works.if it doesn't,do a search of this forum:Richard Probst 727,then you should get some more ideas ;-)hope it works for ya mate,

thanks Tom. I've just done all that and on a very short test flight all seemed well. I've yet to give it a good workout though.blair

hey, glad it works for ya mate!enjoy!

Hey all;Good thread; quick question Clay; I have the magnificent CS727 and use it "raw". You mention a nose attitude during approach: I haven't flown one full size, so - what's it's problem - and how do I fix it???many thanks,pj
