January 16, 200422 yr Hello All;I know that this has been asked before, but I haven't found a solution in the forum archives here as of yet. I'm running FS2002 on my HP machine using Windows XP. The computer is about 2 years old, so I guess its obsolete by now. Anyway, the problem with this started right after I deleted the original B33 Debonair and installed the updated one with the virtual cockpit. Now, the HSI gauge is missing. I've tried everything I can find on the fourm here, including modifying the CFG file in notepad to the lines as described in a previously posted question about this same thing. Still, nothing. So, I gave up, but kept the airplane in my library. I fired it up again the other day, and man it sure flies great ! So, I'm back to trying to fix the HSI because that's the only thing keeping this airplane from being perfect. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.Baron.
January 16, 200422 yr Author I am taking a guess here but I think what you need to do is replace the line in your panel.cfg to reference the newer hsi gauge which is in a cab file.Since I don't have fs2002 anymore-what I would do is open the panel.cfg which is in your b33 folder -panel folder (open in notepad) and look for a reference to the hsi.Replace it with:gauge41=deb!Horizontal Situation Indicator, 336,796,130,123(the gauge 41 may be or not be the correct number-but the text following it is what is important)do this both for the 2d cockpit and vc (may be window 3).Again not having fs2002 anymore I am guessing-but basically you just have to replace the call to the original gauge to the new one:deb!Horizontal Situation Indicator, 336,796,130,123The latest updated one is for fs2004 which is probably why it caused troubles. If all else fails I guess you could uninstall it-then reinstall the earlier version. Thanks for the nice comments! :-) Are you a Baron driver?-I am thinking of ending my relationship with the deb for one...I hope that works for you! January 16, 200422 yr Thanks Geofa !I just tried it again in note pad, and it still didn't work. Maybe I need to get it out of the cab file, or possibly download the older version.Any idea where I could get the older version with the virtual cockpit ?Being a Baron driver, I'm prejudice toward them so I'd say if its time to upgrade, that's the airplane to have. From the looks of the market these days, (depending on which model Baron you want) you could actually sell the Deb for enough money to buy a decent 55 and have some cash left over. However, I'd only advise upgrading to a multi engine if you feel like you really need it (e.g. IFR, night, over water or mountains or all the above). So, I guess bottom line is it depends on the type flying you normally do. You can't argue with a good Debonair, though. Thanks again,Baron.
January 17, 200422 yr Author I don't have the old version any longer-perhaps another user has it and can help?I wish I could be more helpful but I am not sure what the problem is.HOwever-the original (1st version) used a gauge that gave some folks trouble. I then did a 2nd version that used a new gauge called from a cab file. It sounds as if you are calling the gauge from the cab file but possibly don't have it. If you want me to send you the deb cab file that has the hsi in it and see if that works-shoot me an email at [email protected] for the advice on the twin-the Baron's do seem like good bargains right now.I am 50/50 on the upgrade--but it would be nice to be able to fly over the Great Lakes with two engines...http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
