Replacement for Realtek ALC1200 motherboard sound

Recommended Posts

Hi the Realtek ALC1200 8-channel sound on my Asus P5Q motherboard seems to have driver issues with Win7 and I've given up trying to get it working (audio processing seems to be happening but no sound output). Can anyone suggest a replacement PCI or PCIe card offering similar quality?

At least comparable if not better and will use less CPU than onboard. Modern onboard cards do not need a dedicated sound card unless you are an audiophile but this socket 775 may benefit. The ALC1200 is fine sound. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132006
