October 8, 201114 yr I'm doing a clean re-install of Win7-64 and will only be using the system for simming (mainly FSX). Will disabling the "Windows Search" feature free up system resources or is it an essential feature? I'm thinking of the "Indexing Service" in WinXP which I always disabled, it seemed more like bloatware! October 8, 201114 yr Author Thanks for your reply (can't believe I misspelled "Windows" though!). So is it also OK to uninstall the Windows Search altogether? October 9, 201114 yr Author But how would not having it installed effect FSX or addons? October 9, 201114 yr You wouldn't be able to search for files or programs. It is a Windows option and is NOT using system resources. You will NOT gain anything in turning this off. If you want a performance gain, then over-clock your CPU a bit.
