is GT 430 a decient card upgrade?

Featured Replies

ok its been a while since ive upgraded my videocard.. I would love to get a bigger system upgrade, but thats a bit more expensive then just a vid card.. So my system right now is Pentium d, 2.8ghzGeforce 8600gt 512 MBASUS 4coredual2GB ddr2550watt PSU And im thinking of getting this vid card tommorow.. Its on sale at my local shop, and its within my price range. but I was wondering what you's thought, and if it was a diecient upgrade, keeping in mind that I will be upgrading my CPU, RAM and Mobo at a later date, in the next while. my current is Geforce 8600 with a core overclocked to 620MHz, and what I am thinking of getting is Nvidia geforce GT 430, with 1GB http://www.staples.c...&affixedcode=WW what do ya think? Edit -- I am now looking at the GTS 450. seems I might be able to get it for the same price. Good upgrade from what I have?

You can have a GTS450 for that much money: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814125397
thankyou yes actually I just emailed my local computer store a amazon link for a GTS 450, that was for $116 with shipping and they will match amazon. So is the 450 a good upgrade?

the GTS450 is maybe 2x or 3x faster than the 430GT. I think it's quite a lot for $15, and like 4 times faster than your current 8600gt 512MB
