Helicopter spinning out of control

Featured Replies

Is anyone else having this problem in FS2004?Im flying along hunky dory in the chopper when all of a suddenit starts yawing wildly... Im talking airspeed dropping up and down, spinning, spinning, spinning...Sometimes it evens out, sometimes it augers intot he ground.Im using the Saitek X-45 controller and throttle.I think I saw it in the forum somewhere, but I cant find it.When it crashes and then resets, it seems OK.Any ideas what it may be??Ive reinstalled the Saitex drivers for WinXP andrecalibrated. Thanks in advanceJohn W

Are you trying to hover? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference betwen an altitude change and rearward motion. Sometimes rearward motion will lead to the helicopter yawing to turn its nose in the direction of motion. It it's tilted backwards it tends to keep going round and round.I find it easier to see what the helicopter is doing when I'm hovering over a detailed surface like the parking aprons at many of the larger airports. Having autogen buildings or trees in front several dozen yards away can serve the same purpose. Reducing the zoom to about 80 to 85 percent contributes too.RobertVAFlying many Saturday evenings on FlightAdventures.com

Hi,Are you using real world weather when this happens? If so try it just using the 'Fair Weather' theme and see what happens.Regards,Jim

Turn the Realism slider one notch from maximum. That results in a much more stable and realistic flight model for helo's I find.Allcott
