FDs with failed FMCs?

I can engage FD modes with both FMCs failed, and I get appropriate FMA indications just as usual. However, does it make sense then that I get no bars? Find this quite a bit confusing. If the FCC doesn't work without the FMCs, why would the FD engage at all, including AFDS modes, but then fail to present bars on the PFD.Don't have an exact reference to correct behavior at hand, so I thought I'd ask.EDIT Interesting - just noticed clearing all FMC failures will not exactly bring the FD bars back to live, let alone the APs... No other failures whatsoever.EDIT2 Ah, also clearing the failures won't get the FO displays alive again... wonder why they had failed in the first place though!? Not failed exactly, I mean flags and stuff.
