Takeoff Problem

Featured Replies

Hello all,I hope someone here can assist me to get through this annoying problem I have.I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo and when any aircraft goes down the runway to takeoff, the aircraft veer left/right and although my stick has a twist action I hate using it, as I still end up making matters worse! lolThis however does not happen everytime I play the Sim (MSFS 2004 btw)Sometimes the aircraft takeoff fine other times they don't, this happens with all aircraft!I hope some-one can help me pleaseMany thanks in advanceEyelevel ;)

Normally, the single engine aircraft will want to drift to the left, if realism settings are at high........... as this is normal. But having said that, I much prefer using rudder pedals over twist grips. My "control" is just much finer with pedals. You can always try auto-rudder or realism at lower levels--- to keep somewhat centered on the runway.L.Adamson

Check the weather that you're using too. If you're using a weather scape eo theme, you might be taking off in a crosswind situation in which it's completely normal to have the aircraft want to drift.

Hi guy's,Thanks and yes that makes perfect sense, but the thing is that as far as I can see I have not got the realism set at all as I am totally new to this and so am starting out gradually lol :)I have also tried the auto-rudder but makes no difference, then again with so many different options and settings to go through I am kinda getting lost with it all! lolI'll go back into the game and try again, in your opinions though would it be better to assign a couple of keys on the keyboard for the rudder? only I have IL2 FB and use two keys to kinda try and keep the aircraft straight?CheersEyelevel ;)

Hi Eyelevel,Welcome. There are already two keys assigned to rudder by default. They are 0 (zero for left rudder) and Enter (for right rudder) on the number pad. An associated funtion is the numpad 5 key to center the rudder.Try that and see if it is helpful. If you find the buttons too sensitive, they can be adjusted. Use Notepad to access the configuration file (FS9.cfg) and find this section:{CONTROLS}KBDAIL=64KBDELEV=64KBDRUD=64(Note that the word "CONTROL will be enclosed in square brackets).Change the section to read:{CONTROLS}KBDAIL=64KBDELEV=64KBDRUD=10That will give you a finer control adjustment. I hope that this is helpful. R-

I'll try that thank you and also for the welcome ;)I'll post back after I've tested a bit and made those alterations Eyelevel ;)

Hi guy's,Well if there were awards for stupidity, I'd be first in line! :(I put the settings right down to simple, and hey presto aircraft cruise down the runway on takeoff with no problem! :DI feel a complete fool! and apologise for wasting your time! Thanks for all the help guy's I appreciate it!Looks like the laughs are on me tonight! ;)CheersEyelevel :)

As I don't want to monopolize the forum with another 20 threads by Eyelevel I'll ask these last two points here if I may:Firstly the Flight Video option, do any of you use it? if so do you find it jerky? I do and I am puzzled as to why its so bad, I'd like to be able to watch what I do a bit longer than the Instant Replay allows but can't because its so poor........any soloutions/ideas?Lastly do I need this FSUIPC file? and if so is there a free version and where can I get it, and I take it it will be the latest version? Many many thanks and sorry for all these questions but I want to know if I've got an uptodate Sim ;) as things stand the version I have is the out of the box version, no updates of any kind installed yet, thats if there are any lol :DCheersEyelevel ;)

>>Lastly do I need this FSUIPC file? and if so is there a free>>version and where can I get it, and I take it it will be the latest >>version? As a beginner, there's little need for you to get FSUIPC yet. You can download it at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html however. This will be an unregistered (free) version. FSUIPC's main function is to allow other programs to 'talk' to MSFS, and virtually all of those other programs, if you get any, will have a built in registration key for FSUIPC, so you don't need to pay to register your copy.(Many will even have FSUIPC budled with them, but you should still get the copy from the site above as that's always the latest version.)Now, FSUIPC does have a secondary function - it has an interface that lets you alter the key assignments more easily than using the MSFS menu, or editing the .cfg file, and that also allows you to make changes to things like weather. (It has other parts to its interface too, but don't worry about those for now) This interface is only available if you buy a registration, but none of them are essential. To the vast majority of simmers, FSUIPC is effectively free - you don't need the interface function, and virtually every program you might add to MSFS will be able to connect quite happily to an unregistered version.Richard

Thank you Richard ;)I'll keep a hold of that link and if in the future I need it I'll grab hold of it, but as a newbie I think I would struggle to figure anything out lol Are there any great downloads I should get? I know there is a vast library here but don't know where to begin lolCheersEyelevel ;)
