Getting frustrated

Featured Replies

Dont get me wrong, I Know that ASE and REX are as good as it gets but comming from fs9 there are some things that are different that are bugging me.I have been trying to get the weather generation like it was in fs9 because it was so much more realistic. DWC and smoothing to me are not as realistic as standard. When you are really flying in an airplane you can see the weather coming from a ways off and standard mode is the only way to get this. Otherwise the clouds just fade in and out under you as you fly into different Metar areas. The problem is is that ASE will not let you use the visibility smoothing feature for standard. So I am forced to use it in FSUIPC and as the author of FSUIPC has stated and I can attest to, this is unreliable and does not work like it did in fs9. As I have set in FSUIPC I get one visibility setting but that is OK because it works as I intend to get the haze look and vis under 40 miles to hide terrible FSX programming. However during about every other ASE update :15 min. the limited visibility will instantly flash away revealing that terrible forever view. Then after the next update it will come back. The other issue I have discovered, and this seems to be a known issue with ASE, FSX and Standard mode, is that periodically the sky will flash and this will couple with a very bad stutter and massive HD access. This is terrible because standard mode and flying above bad weather at 36,000 feet is as real looking as it gets. This sky/stutter will go on for up to a minute at a time and then go away for a while. Also FSUIPC does not smooth the visibility changes anymore and this can be rough looking. ASE does a good job at smoothing in DWC but can you guys please make this feature available in the other 2 modes. This is the one really big problem with ASE that I almost cannot get over. There is nothing worse than flying along and all of a sudden being enveloped in towering T-strorms as if I have been asleep the whole time. Standard is the only mode that lets you see them comming at the limit of your visibility and divert. The graphics glitches in standard will require that I go back to smoothing after this flight, which is a little better than DWC in this regard but nothing as good as standard. Is this a simconnect limit to programming for you guys at Hifi and Pete with FSUIPC? I understand if it is. I am not trying to be a winer and forgive me if I do. I am just hoping I can get a good work around for this issue because I am almost as real as it gets. Just so close but yet so far!
