Microsoft Sidewinder Plus Joystick and Windows 2000 Pro

Featured Replies

I've just acquired a computer with Windows 2000 professional as the operating system. It had COMBAT flight sim 1 enstalled, but it will NOT enstall my joystick. Microsoft's Sidewinder website says that it should work, it does NOT with the original drivers (1998). I can NOT find any new drivers to make it work. Anybody have any info on this problem? Thanks, jerry

I'm disappointed after three days no one has replied. Please I need help with this problem. Is there anyone using Windows 2000 professional with a joy stick? Thanks, jerrycwo4

Win2K should have default drivers for the Microsoft Joystick. You should not install any extra drivers. If there is a menu item on the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs menu for Microsoft Joystick drivers, I recommend you uninstall them. Those drivers were for Win95 and earlier.I also recommend you update your OS with all the service packs.Lastly, visit http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/ , Support, and click on the three items in the center of the page. There are several items for fixing joystick problems.W. Sieffert

Win 2000 Pro works fine with joysticks..... I can't speak for the Sidewinders; as to whether they need drivers or not, my Saitek Cyborg Evo is recognised without any additional drivers, and calibrates perfectly.Do you know if the version of Windows on your PC has any of the Service Packs installed? I have SP1 and 2....you will find decent gaming support from at least SP1, so update if your version has not yet been done. That may fix your problem.
