RealAir SF.260

Featured Replies

I just bought the SF.260 from RealAir. If I could summarize the aircraft in one word, that would be: WOW!This aircraft in itself is a piece of art. The guys at real air have put so much attention to the little details that this aircraft is a pleasure to fly. Everything about this aircraft is incredible. The textures are amazing, the VC is breathtaking, the flight model is super accurate, the gauges are sharp no matter if you're in the 2D or the VC. The 2D panel is beautiful by it's simplicity, it's not overdone by a gazillion of gauges. The aircraft ranks among the best payware package ever. It's the same quality that PMDG puts in their aircraft. I can't imagine how many hundred or thousands hours the realair guys have put into this amazing aircraft but whatever they put it's well worth it, they've came up with a top notch GA aircraft. Now if you excuse me I've gotta go fly this baby!Great Job guys!Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,Thanks for your kind comments. In answer to your question, we are talking thousands, not hundreds, in terms of hours development. Approximately 1.5 years development up to and including the new FS2004 Sf260 version. I'm glad you feel it shows.Just a short note, we are undergoing a major server update tonight so if you didn't get through to the RealAir site it will, all being well, be on line tommorow with a new faster server.Kind Regards,Rob Young - www.realairsimulations.com

RealAir Simulations and PMDG, that's all I need for my sim! Oh wait, I forgot RealityXP - the 530XP GPS for the SF.260, and the JL2 avionics for the B1900D. It doesn't get better than that. Perfect planes, great support, what more could I ask for? Thank you, guys!!!VOlker :]

It's a really great plane, both for acrobatics and cross country. Well worth every penny.-- Walt

The US dollar is currently at an all time low compared to European Currencies. So $25 is a very modest amount in sterling. We hope we won't have to announce a price rise in the future but that depends on the US doing something about the dollar which is in global freefall at the moment.Rob Young

Rob,finaly found this forum. Your companies SF260 is absolutely stunning! I like it so much I bought it for my father as well so we could fly online together. Formation flying in this plane is such fun, not only do you get to see the fantastic virtual cockpit but also the exterier of the other aircraft. I really can't say enough about your product. I can't wait to see what you guys are going to come up with next.

Not only is the 260 a fantastic looking and fantastic flying plane, but its also one of the most framerate friendly machines in my hangar. I'm just amazed at the smooth performance I get in that incredibly clean VC...

Rob,Your SF.260 has been a favorite of mine going back to when it was first released for FS2002. You really didn't need to redo it for FS2004... the old version worked great in '04... but I'm glad you did! :) I just don't understand how something that was so good could be made to be so much better. :-lolMy only complaint is that I always forget the command to switch to the medium sized panel... I know... Shift+2... but I have to look it up each time! ;-) Or else I'm stuck flying with the virtual cockpit... which come to think of it ain't too bad a deal... it is the only virtual cockpit that I'm actually comfy flying with full time... and I have lots of other planes.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/62599.jpgAll the gauges are clear & readable... and the perspective seems very natural.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/62600.jpgThe plane has a nice sporty feel about it... yet it is very stable. Kind of like having a flying version of my '88 RX-7 converible. :-rollhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/62601.jpgI like that new RealAir paint too. ;-)BTW: These shots are taken flying South from Wenatchee Washington's Pangborn Meml Airport using Eddie Denney's RealScene 2004 US mesh & landclass.

Anyone having a problem with the VC panel light not staying on when you hit the switch?

  • Author

Hi Bob,I think you are pressing the "wrong" keys for the cockpit light. I put in the quotes because this is the key press you would rightly expect, but we re-assigned the key in order to use taxi lights for landing lights which give more realism. Please have a look at the SF260 flying guide and we explain about the lights there!Kind Regards,Rob Young = www.realairsimulations.com

I used both the Panel lighting switch on either the small switch panel on the right side of cockpit that is called up by shift 6 , or the Panel switch on the lower right on the IFR panel. I even tried the Shift L switch. The VC Panel light blinks on for a second and goes right back out ( like a bulb ready to go bad :) ). When you load the aircraft , as stated, the switch is in the on position for the panel light on the VC, but the light is off.

So I uninstalled the Aircraft, reinstalled , and everything is working perfectly. Reloaded FS9 about half hour later, and problem is back

Well thanks to the very quick reponse of Rob Young ( a matter of hours), I followed Rob's suggestion and the problem is fixed. In Options/settings,display/hardware there is a slider that says "Hardware Rendered Lights". Any setting lower than 5 causes the VC cockpit lights not to light, on my system. Following Rob's suggestion, I moved it from the 4 setting I had to the maximum. This is with a Nividai Ge Force 6800 Series GT Graphics Card.
