December 18, 201114 yr HiI am having a bit of a time getting to grips with the Wilco Airbus take-off phase.I have the autothrottle armed and FD on and move throttles to flex or toga. After passing through the thr red altitude, I pull the throttles back to CL, but the plane just keeps on accelerating, right up to 400 knts if I let it. I seem to have to go through a process of turning off the autothrottle, and/or FD and turning both back on again. Eventually it seems to take note and calm down.Perhaps I am missing a setup step somewhere, but tried following their tutorial word for word and get the same problem.Any ideas fellow simmers?
December 19, 201114 yr I'm not quite sure but, did you activate A/T before take off? Try to leave the A/T switch off as it will be automatically activated once you're airborne. And pressing F2 twice (FLEX) will pull the throttle back to CL, or press F2 once when you conduct full power for take off. I remember used to have such problems.Correct me if i'm wrong. :)
December 19, 201114 yr Commercial Member The A3xx does not have autothrottle, it has Auto thrust - Not trying to be annoying but there is a difference and it is important to understand the logic behind it when getting to grips with the A3xx A/THRIf you have used the correct V speeds for the aircraft gross weight you should do the following - (V2 must be entered to get SRS guidance on take off)1. Ensure you have set your initial altitude constraint in the FCU and at least 1 FD is on and speed is pushed and managed (three dashes)2. Set TOGA or FLEX and ensure your FMA (top of the primary flight display) reads MAN TOGA/SRS/RWY3. at Vr rotate smoothly at 3degrees per sec to 10 degrees once airborne increase to 15 degrees and follow the SRS using the flight director4. At thrust reduction altitude you will see LVL CLB flash on the FMA, reduce to climb thrust and your FMA will change to 'THR CLB' the aircraft will use managed speed unless you have selected another speed yourself on the FCU5.At accelaration alt the flight directors will command nose down and accelarate to green dot speed and eventually your climb speed once you have cleaned up the aircraft and retracted slats and flaps. The most important thing to remember is the FMA is your primary guide to what the autopilot or autothrust should or shouldn't be doing.Havent flown the Wilco Bus in years so cant remember how accurate it is, but thats how the real thing operates.Regards Rob Prest
December 19, 201114 yr Good advice thanks.I think I have been pitching up too steep which disconects the autothrust (not autothrottle). This due to engaging the autopilot too soon after take off and expecting it to do all like a 737. Very different methodologies and just getting used to it.
