February 12, 200422 yr Hi,one month ago i bought a new graphic card Gigabyte nvidia fx5200.My first opinion was really bad.In fs2004 the picture was flickering, stutter.Everything i had tried in the settings doesnt resolve the problem.Untill i changed the settings to nvidia menu antialiasing controlled by application to 4x.Now the picture in the game is clear with no stuttering, flickering. But now my fps jump from 18 to 3 every some seconds, sometimes stay to 2fps,and the game pause for some second expecially in different view, zoom modes. If i turn again the antialiasing to controlled by application then the fps are stable but the picture is really bad....please help... February 12, 200422 yr First check that there are no files or entries left over from your previous video card whatever it was( In Windows , registry and also FS9. cfg)If there are or if you think there may be then uninstall everything for the video cards( drivers ,devices ) and set the video adapter to "Standard AGP Display Adaptor( Or similar wording- I forget exactly) in the device manager.Shut down, restart and then , after checking again for leftover files and folders, reinstall the NVidia drivers. If that doesn't help thentry uninstalling the 53.03 drivers and using the 52.16 version (download at NVidia). I had problems when I updated to 53.03 - went back to 52.16( This with a Ti4200). Others have found better results (With various Nvidia cards) using some of the older 4x.xx series of drivers.Dave
February 12, 200422 yr Hi,thank you for your help.I have install the drivers in a clean reformat pc.I have try also the driver vers 52,16 and 43,03 and the problem is still the same, when i turn only the antialiasing to 4x then the graphics to flight simulator are clear. Now i have see that the problem with the pause in the picture and the jump from 15 fps to 3 happened when are clouds or other weather(not clear)...only when i have clear weather i can play the game with antialiasing to 4x...
February 13, 200422 yr I would check to see if you installed the MOBO's controller chip drivers, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, NForce. In your case, they are probably Intel. If so, you might search for updated drivers to see if it corrects your problem.Test your graphics adapter. Press Start, Run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the directx diagnostic stabilize. Ensure you are using DirectX9.0b on the System tab. If not, download 9.0b from Microsoft Windows Update Site and start the test over. If you have 9.0b, select the Display tab and ensure DirectDraw, Direct3d, and AGP accelerators are enabled. If any are grayed-out, then your MOBO controller chip drivers are not installed or corrupted. Run the test for DirectDraw and Direct3d.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
February 13, 200422 yr Adding to above, try 2xAA before 4x. And set the Anisiostereoanabolic filtering to say 4. Mipmap=4. Resolution 1024x max. Rename default.xml. 'Ground bumps off' with SW FFB2 joystick, etc. Good luck, mate. Jaap @w.sieffert. Always appreciate your posts, thanks.
