CTD when going to new scenery/airport

Featured Replies

I am getting CTD when I change my location in FSX. Not every time, but usually after I have been flying somewhere else in the world. It doesn't happen when I start from the 'Create Flight screen'. It did before with Thomas Kwong's HK VHHH scenery but I have deleted that and Hong Kong works now.Yes I have a number of PAYWARE sceneries installed, Level D (also Payware) 767 and CLS A330-340.My computer is a Core2Duo with 2GB RAM and a GTX550Ti (new) card. It was doing this before I installed the card.I really have no idea where to start, so any help, tips or ideas is appreciated. Is there a post somewhere that has a fault finding procedure for FSX CTDs?ThanksDaniel

Can you post the CTD info?Cheers,- jahman.

No, look in the System Event Viewer and see what caused the crash. You can get to the Event Viewer by clicking on the Start button, typing Event Viewer in the search box then look up in the Menu and you should see Event Viewer. Click on it and then Custom Views then Administrative Events. Look for an error that occurred the same time of your crash. Look for a faulting module.Best regards,Jim

Thanks Jim,I am in XP32, and found event viewer like you said. Didn't find 'administrative events' though. I found a list of four: Application, Security, System, Internet Explorer.Does FSX use FS9.EXE or is that my FS2004 version? Because I have two of them. I have found two errors in the last few days. But I will just run FSX and replicate the CTD (easy to do!) then record the time and match it to the event viewer. The message saying it wants to send the data to Microsoft records in three different files the error. When I went through it it was multiple pages long, maybe not appropriate to post on the forums.ThanksDaniel

Okay. For Windows XP, follow the directions at the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427. To copy the details of the event, click the Copy button, then open a new document in the program in which you want to paste the event (for example, this forum), and then click Paste on the Edit menu.Best regards,Jim

There was no application 'event'. In the system part of event viewer I got this twice at 6:38pm when I went to YPAD. The aircraft I then loaded kept smashing into the pavement (CLS A330) for some reason......Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: DCOMEvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 10016Date: 30/12/2011Time: 6:38:36 PMUser: NT AUTHORITYLOCAL SERVICEComputer: DANIEL-HOME1Description:The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1} to the user NT AUTHORITYLOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19).
