January 5, 201214 yr Hello everyone,To my total surprise, after having signed up for the MS Flight Beta programm, I have just been selected, and I was able to download their first Beta! Awesome!Well, there are several things that are really good, but also some less good things. The good:- Extremely easy to use User Interface- Really easy to set up controls. My Cessna Yoke and Rudder Pedals were plug and play- Really easy to set up controls. I could easily set up my trim controls, landing gear and flaps, throttle axis, etc.- The game loads up EXTREMELY fast, even with my 5400 RPM WD Caviar Green, you're in game already within 5 seconds after you clicked the MS Flight icon.- Very good graphics- Shadows and sun shining into the cockpit which looks really realisitc (this would look awesome with the NGX)- Good looking scenery- Very realistic looking volumetric clouds- Very good frame rate on medium settings, with my bad graphics card.- Flight dynamics are very similar to FSX.- Ground effect has been simulated much better now, aircraft doesn't stall when pull the throttle to idle just before touchdown, like it does in FSX.- All gauges in the cockpit work. Including GPS, fuel flow, RPM, everything. It was also possible to set VORs and tune ATC.- Very easy to set up for Free Flight modeThe bad:- As expected, it feels really gamey. A lot of missions and awards. But FSX actually had the same. Just like in FSX's missions you get the exact same women's voice when doing missions, actually similar to FSX.- I have not yet seen a real world weather feature, but yeah, we have Hifi Sim to do that for us...- The beta does only feature the main big island of Hawaii. You can look on the map, and there you can see the other islands of Hawaii, which are not yet available, but you can already buy it. Good thing is that all airports have been included though. I really really have my fingers crossed that we'll have the whole world upon official release, but I doubt it to be honest. And if not, if they charge a fair price, and we could get the whole world just like in FSX for around 100 dollars, than that's fair to me. Otherwise, we could still wait until some of the big add-on developers makes something for MS Flight like FSGlobal, or GEX, so we have the whole world. But I doubt if that's really possible. So, overall conclusion:Extremely good user interface, graphics, scenery, framerate, flightdynamics. It seems like a good combination of game and simulation.Comparison to XPlane 10:Way easier to use, better flight dynamics and graphics. We basicly need a combination of XPlane 10 and MS Flight. MS Flight's flight dynamics, graphics, UI, overall game engine. And XPlane 10's scenery (the whole world)If you also play the first demo, don't let the first mission fool you already. Complete the 2nd mission also and go to free flight, and you'll notice that the game is really not that bad.Perhaps I'll make a video of some gameplay, although it's not allowed. But who cares?I haven't tried it yet (because I don't even know how), but the game does have ATC. Edited January 5, 201214 yr by arjenfsx Arjen Vandervelde
January 5, 201214 yr HiDo you realize you're probably not allowed to say anything about the beta process and the software itself ? Vincent Caudron
