January 6, 201214 yr I belong to a group (German) of online flyers (IFR) of which I take the role of Ground Controller. As in our group there are FS9 and FSX users there is often a conflict between the airport details which can be confusing in the Euroscope map. To this end I try to produce a bgl file for FS9 using the data from FSX. As, to the best of my knowledge there is yet no way of converting FSX bgl's to FS9 bgl's I do this by hand. Using 2 monitors and the two programms AFX and ADE to transfer the airport details from FSX to FS9 and then save the FS) bgl. I then convert this data bgl to the relevant files necessary for Euroscope using the programm bgl2sct. While this conversion is succesful a few of my companions are doubtfull about inserting the bgl file into the FS9/Addon Scenery/Scenery file as they do not know how this will effect any third party sceneries of the same name as my bgl file. Can anyone explain the Addon Scenery priorities for example when I use Aerosoft EGLL and wish to use my 'home brewed' EGLL.bgl in any of the Simulations be it FS9 or FSX.OS is WIN 7
January 7, 201214 yr Can anyone explain the Addon Scenery priorities for example when I use Aerosoft EGLL and wish to use my 'home brewed' EGLL.bgl in any of the Simulations be it FS9 or FSX.If you have your 'home-brewed' version of EGLL, then that needs to be above the Aerosoft EGLL in the Scenery Library. You should not simply place your EGLL.bgl in your Addon Scenery folder as the Addon folder is usually way down in the Scenery Library. Instead make a new directory entitled Heathrow anywhere on your harddrive and then add a Scenery Folder under that directory. In the scenery folder, add the EGLL.bgl. Now go into your Scenery Library and select Add and then search for the Heathrow folder and then click on add scenery. It should place the folder at the top of the scenery library giving you priority over any other rendition of EGLL. If you want to use the Aerosoft scenery in the future, you can always go into the Scenery Library and disable your personal rendition of Heathrow. Hopefully this was the type of info you were asking and I hope it helped.Best regards,Jim
January 7, 201214 yr Author Many many thanks. Clear and concise explanation. Will try out later today and hope it works so that I can pass on the info to my German friends.
January 10, 201214 yr As, to the best of my knowledge there is yet no way of converting FSX bgl's to FS9 bgl's I do this by hand. http://stuff4fs.com/newpage.asp?Folder=*There is a tool to strip out FSX specific data from the XML, which allows it to be used within FS9. I've not tried it, so can't vouch for it's effectiveness. It may be worth looking into?
