Clean install- order of GEX/FTX/UTX/REX install

Featured Replies

Greetings! As the title of the post says, I'm doing a clean install of my FSX and would appreciate advice on what order I should add GEX/FTX/UTX and REX. The last thing I added on my original install was FTX (NA Blue) and some of my airports had the appearance of being in a canyon (elevations were messed up). I did read that I should run the sim once before installing ANYTHING, and follow up with a defrag. Thanks for any advice.

  1. See NickN's FSX Set-Up Guide
  2. Install FSX Deluxe
  3. Run FSX Deluxe after install
  4. Install FSX Acceleration
  5. Run FSX Acceleration after install
  6. Install all add-ons
  7. Update your MSVC and .NET Runtimes via Windows Update
  8. Activate your desired textures (REX, GEX, UTX, FTX)
  9. Defrag your HDD.

Cheers,- jahman.

I would recommand a defrag before the installation

Thank you both! There's some great information in that install guide. I'll take it slow and try to get it right the first time.

You're welcome!Cheers,- jahman.

If you have fsx installed in an SSD then you dont need to defrag.
