Captain Sim support problem--what can I do?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get a Yak-3 I purchased from Captain Sim yesterday, but unfortunately I'm not having much luck.I initially sought help at the Captain Sim online support forum, and there they advised me to send a copy of my online purchase receipt to [email protected] and I would receive a download link "immediately." I've sent a copy of the purchase receipt four times already to [email protected] , but Captain Sim insists that they haven't received any e-mails from me.I've even sent e-mails to [email protected] from my Yahoo account, in case my own e-mail server wasn't working. Still no response. And the e-mails aren't bouncing back either.Anyway, it seems that Captain Sim support is now ignoring my posts at the Captain Sim forum. Did I say something wrong? Maybe there's just an e-mail traffic problem, but whatever the issue, I'm trying to work with Captain Sim to resolve it. I just don't like being ignored.Captain Sim's products are second to none, but I'm really not liking their support right now.Anybody have any suggestions?Thanks.-- Walt

I've heard people complain before that they're slow. I've never experienced it, they've been right there for me when I needed it, so who knows? I'll guarantee though that if they got your email they'll respond to it. First off, it's a customer support issue, you have to deal with it. More importantly, it's a business issue, i.e. revenue. If you haven't got a reply yet there's a screw up somewhere and it's not just that they're ignoring you. I guess what I'm saying is that these guys are professionals, they know what they're doing. It'll work out.Btw, check out their 727. It is too cool....rgds,billg

Thanks for the encouraging words. Yes, their 727 is way cool. I'm also especially fond of the F-104 and MiG-21; really first rate workmanship.-- Walt

I have the 104 too. My dad has over 1000 hours on them. I can take off np, but I've never yet landed it, hehe. And I think that's one of the important parts....billg

"I can take off np, but I've never yet landed it, hehe"No wonder the sky is filling up with F-104's. You're not supposed to just leave em up there LOL.David

Yep, the F-104 is tricky to land--comes in fast. You have to make sure you have the the flaps fully extended, or you don't stand a chance. Harder to land than the F-104 is the MiG-21.-- Walt

(and ALOT of runway! *grin*)

FYI, I received my download link from Captain Sim this morning--48 hours after placing the order, an eternity when you're used to receiving a download within seconds of completing an online payment. Download and installation worked great; I'm a happy camper now.According to Captain Sim, the delay in delivering my order was due to my paying via a PayPal account that drew an "eCheck" from my bank. While I typically pay via a credit card, in this case the Captain Sim online ordering site insisted that I pay via PayPal, and would not accept a credit card payment. Maybe I missed something.Anyway, what ticks me about Captain Sim's online support is the lack of communication--they never advised me what was causing the delay until after the fact--and when they do communicate, it's in a maddeningly non-communicative, robotic style that would make an AI support system blush. Perhaps it's the tip of some bureaucratic iceberg.Okay, I'm over it. Great product, great hobby.-- Walt
