February 26, 200422 yr I have seen several posts referring to Chris' Clouds and also changing aperture setting from 128 to 256 depending on ram. Could someone please tell me about the clouds and are they better than the MS FS default ones as well as where can I find them, and how do I access this aperture setting to change it?? Thanks. Tom
February 26, 200422 yr In regards to the clouds, I would recommend trying them if you have problems with low framerates when flying in default 3D clouds (more then scattered). They look really good too!Just remember to back up the original if you wanna revert :)Get them here (and the fix): http://fsw.simflight.comAbout the aperture settings, it is my understanding that it relates more to the amount of RAM on your graphics card then actual RAM in the computer. The way I see it, if you have 128 MB RAM on card, aperture size works well set at 64 or 128. If 256 RAM on the card, 128 or 256 aperture size is better. You should probably get a second opinion (or many) since I am not 100% sure wich will be the best, it seems to differ from user to user depending on what system they are running :)If anything, you can try to change between the numbers and see wich one gives the best performance. Generally, its my experience that no matter wich of the above settings you chose, it wont change alot significantly - unless you maybe run a card with very little RAM on it.Oh, and you change the aperture setting outside of windows in the BIOS. Be careful about what you change inside there if you havent done it before.
February 27, 200422 yr I was talking to an ATI tech support guy about something else and aperture size came up. He said it dosn't really matter, dosn't make any difference. I'm tried 256 and 64 and can't tell the difference. Who knows?billg
