January 24, 201214 yr I have been flying FS9 for several years and have spent a lot of money on scenery etc. I recently upgraded my computer and now have FSX loaded and am looking for a replacement for the default scenery, Is TileProxy a worthwhile application and still a viable program for use with FSX? It looks like there were issues with Google Maps back in the day and that development may haved ceased. Is that still the case? Thanks,John John P. January 25, 201214 yr Author Jim,Thanks for the response. Are there alternatives to google maps? I am seeing Bing and some other European maps site. If there are US maps availabe, are screenshots available from those that are using something different.John John P. January 26, 201214 yr Author Jim,Thanks again for your response. Is there documentation on how to set Yahoo as the default map generator? I have no issues with reading a manual, etc. once I decide if I am going to install TileProxy, I am just trying to gleen as much information as I can to make a decision before I start something that I might not be able to finish given what is still available.John John P. January 26, 201214 yr Author Jim,Thanks again. I am reading the manual now and hope to have some time to install this weekend. My plan is to first install a SSD drive for FSX and TileProxy. Do you recommend putting the cache on a separate drive? Now I have:C:(OS) (SSD) 36G FreeD:(Program Files) (SSD upgrade planned) 90G FreeE:(All FSX Software - Payware downloads, etc) SATA 240G FreeThanks,John Edited January 26, 201214 yr by ArrowFlyer John P. January 26, 201214 yr Author Is the SATA drive going to limit my access rate? I would think the speed of the SSD would help with load times, etc. What are your thoughts? Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. I will get my screenshots loaded on this forum site when I get it going.John John P. Navara PP ASEL-IA - 1975 Piper Arrow II Owner Complex, HP & Tailwheel endorsements https://twitch.tv/Sim_Dude
January 26, 201214 yr Your SSD is too small and is going to fill up quickly.TP mostly relies on your Internet connection speed especially for the first time you fly in an area.
February 6, 201214 yr John,I put the TP cache on my C: (where win7 is), and FSX on D: (seperate drive). Works out really well!
