I'm running an Asus M3N78-VM with Phenom II x6 2.8, 6GB RAM, Asus AEH 6770 Display adapter with !GB GDDR5, 60GB SSD and 2TB Sata II hard disk. Latest AMD Windows 8 preview drivers for HD 6770.I've seached and searched but not found anyone with this problem! I doubt FSX or your graphics driver is compatible with Windows 8. This link might help - http://www.eightforums.com/hardware-drivers/2266-video-driver-install-problems.html. Thanks JimEverything else runs fine on the HD 6770....so frustrating! I decided to do a clean install to see what was happening with the correct display driver installed, and FSX doesn't even get as far as writing the fsx.cfg file...it crashes before that....so mine, on a clean install, is empty....

One of the things you can do to investigate this issue is to download and install 'Process Explorer' - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 - then run it. After Process Explorer is up and running, startup FSX and then watch process explorer and see what is loading when FSX crashes. You can also check your Event Viewer to see what caused the crash when you started up FSX.Best regards,Jim

I don't see anything wrong with the FSX.cfg other than the wrong video card. Most likely there is something more serious regarding your FSX installation. I would reinsert the FSX disks and select 'repair' when the screen appears. You should also reinstall SP1 and SP2 too. If you have Acceleration installed, then you won't have to repair SP1 and SP2. Just do a repair of Acceleration as SP1 and SP2 are included. In your FSX.cfg under Traffic Manager, lower Ships and Leisure Boats from 30% to no more than 10.Best regards,Jim
