Brighter Highways

Featured Replies

Hi.I normally use the sim in the dusk/night environment and I found that most of that environment is much to dark, compared with real life. Many of the Freeways are not very exact, some are missing and all are too dark, in my opinion. In KSNA area, 405 is of many different types, some is rendered as roads, and many parts are missing.I decided to modify some of the textures that may give a better simulation of what I perceive to be a realistic representation. See pics for clarification. If any one is interested in having Highways / roads that are brighter at night you can accomplish this by substituting the following files with the one in my message.Make sure you first save and rename the following files to something like

Very cool. Thank you :) Finally can find my way around LA at night again :D

Hi.Nothing wrong with that type of IFR (I Follow Roads) navigation, as long as it

Unbelievable improvement !Thank you very much for this tip. Take care,John M.

Thanks for your contribution, Jim. Nice work!RobertPIV 3.2 ghz, 1024 DDR ram, 128 mg Radeon 9700 Pro graphic card, Intel D865GBF 800 FSB mobo, two 80 gig Western 7200 hard drives,Win XP Home Edition, 19" ViewSonic E 90f + SB monitor

it got nerfed :-(billg

>Thanks for your contribution, Jim. Nice work!>>Robert>Sure thing Robert. You're welcome! I think it is a really great modification, just wonderful. :D I didn't make it though, as I stated in the Readme. I just uploaded it was all.>it got nerfed :(Bill,If you are suggesting that I stole it, I suggest you read the README. I only take responsibility for submitting/uploading the file to the library. I was encouraged to do so some time ago via private message by Avcomware. And Avcomware(TV) asked that I take on any tech support or questions regarding the textures. Although I don't think there'll be any as installation and usage is very straightforward.Cheers,Jim

I thought I'd make one more post to give thanks to TV for his great idea and modification. Thank You! :-yellow1For anyone who's wondering what this texture mod is like here's a little sample although I've always thought nighttime screenshots are kinda hard to see. Take my word for it, it looks a lot better in your own sim.Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/71223.jpg

Jim, misunderstanding, sorry. I just meant that when I clicked on the original attachment in this post it had been removed.billg

Hi Bill,Yeah, sorry. Maybe I was paranoid someone would think that I was trying to steal some kind of glory or something. :-badteeth Sorry I misunderstood. Yeah, file attachments in posts only last so long. Like 18 days I think. If you haven't found it yet, it's in the library in the FS2004 Scenery section and the filename is: litroads.zipAgain, all I did was upload the thing. ;)Now go get it! :-bluegrabEnjoy,Jim

thx Jim. I'll get it now. Looking at the pic you posted it look's cool!billg
