Getting AI traffic to land on correct runway for wind ??????

Featured Replies

Hi,Can anyone tell me how to get AI traffic landing on the correct runways for the wind direction current at the time. Example, EGLL using Radar Contact and vectored to land on 27L as wind is 260 at 33knts. All the AI traffic is being vectored by FS ATC to land on 09L with a 260 wind at 33knts. It had the wind and direction right but not the runway. I have even tried setting the wind direction manually say 270 at 50kts and it still will choose 09 with a wind at 270 degrees. Thanks Mike

MSFS team made a big decision to not change the runways after the simulator is started even with large wind changes in FS2004. FS2002 was famous for changing the runways for winds and had AI taking off and landing in opposite directions until all the aircraft that were in the loop prior to the wind change were finally gone. Many complaints were made so MSFS team made the change. You can try setting your AI to zero percent, and if on the ground, don't talk to center or anyone else or the winds will not change. Your only other avenue is to exit FS2004 and restart with the new winds.Hopefully in future MSFS designs, ATC could direct aircraft to a holding point until the airport is switched and the new runways are cleared for takeoff/landings.W.
