737-200 tanks capacity

Featured Replies

Hi, does anybody know about capacity of each of three 737-200 tanks ? (Total capacity should be about 14500kg)...Thanx milan

Milan,Its been a while since i've fueled one, but if i remember right, each wing holds 10,200lb and the center tank holds 15,000lb for a total of 35,400lb.However, we never filled the wings to 10.2 as the gauges weren't very accurate, and on a hot day you'd usually fill the surge tank and dump fuel out of the wing. We always stopped the wings at an even 10,000.The only airline that ever asked us to put 10.2 in the wings was United, and even then, we didn't actually do it. I'd just put 400lb extra in the center tank. Every other airline only requested 10,000 per side...One other item of note: At some point the FAA issued an AD that required deactivation of the center tank VTO. This in turn restricted the center tank capacity to 14,500lb. This wasn't usually a problem as its very rare to 'top-off' a jet. The only time it was a problem was when we were fueling the MetroJet birds for their last flight to the boneyard in Mojave. Depending on the headwind, the reduced fuel load would usually require a tech-stop for more fuel somewhere enroute...Hope that helps,Nick LandolfiBlue Ridge Dx EDITED at 2025z for spelling
