Tutorial 2 - help needed

Featured Replies

HiFairly new to this so please excuse my ignorance....I've been reasonably successful with it, but on page 112 it states to turn on both VOR pointers and DME.....is this just flicking the two VOR switches up?If I do that, then the part where the RTT NDB needle starts to appear (P116) doesn't happen, but it does if I move the left VOR switch down to ADF.If someone could help by explaining this approach I'd be really grateful. I've tried following the tutorial to the letter (whilst pausing the sim a lot!) and I still can't get it towork right. I do have a decent knowledge of navaids.ThanksDominic

You can either show VOR or NDB on the ND. There is only one NDB/ADF on the NGX and that will be displayed when the VOR/ADF left switch is down. The ADF can be displayed on the RMI (situated at the bottom and to the right of the ND). This is done by turning the left "rabbit ear" switch so that the arrow on the switch points towards the 3 o'clock position. If you do that you will see the needle swing as you go over the RTT beacon. You can of course show the ADF on the ND display and the VOR on the RMI, to do this just ensure that the arrow on the rabbit ear is at the 12 o'clock position.
