is it a good idea to defrag the FSX partition once in a while, or am I doing the wrong thing?

It is always good to defrag your hard drive once in a while. You can start it up and have it running in the background while you're surfing the Internet, looking at e-mail or some people let it defrag overnight. You can also defrag while running FSX but I would avoid doing that. You should definitely defrag your FSX hard drive after you install FSX/Acceleration or any FSX addon as installation throws the files all over the hard drive. Once it is defragged, then I would defrag the hard drive at least once a month or soon after a new addon is installed. This is ONLY for hard drives and not the new Solid State Drives (SSD's). You should never defrag SSD's.Best regards,Jim

Which defrag tool should I use? The default one from win7?Kind regardsFestijn

The default works great and it works in the background while you're on the Internet or writing a dissertation with Microsoft Office, etc. There are others you can buy on the Internet and freeware ones too. Some of those will provide a visual of how badly your harddrive is fragmented. Best regards,Jim
