March 25, 200422 yr I rarely question editing decisions by the moderators here, but I've been baffled in recent days. More than one non-MSFS thread (i.e. on winglets, the 737's range, tail vs. wing engines) has stayed here in the past day or so. Yet a thread which is central to MSFS--that of MSFS freeware/shareware getting sold commercially, was moved over to Hangar Chat. Hangar Chat is a great place, don't get me wrong, but it is also less visited than this forum. I would think a thread central to the hobby of MSFS--and the desire of add-on authors like myself to make it known what's going on out there, would be allowed to stay where it would see the most discussion. Why move an MSFS related topic there while allowing non-MSFS topics to stay here?-John
March 25, 200422 yr I wondered about this move myself.... pirating of MSFS add-ons is hardly a 'real world aviation' thread.Richard
March 25, 200422 yr I left it here for a few days, then moved it.Typically, if a topic is not MSFS related but has activity, I will let it hang around for a little bit then move it.This is purely a judegment call on my part. Also, some posts I miss. If they are posted and make it to the second or third page, I may not see it.As to this particular topic, I read the topic as an issue about software piracy, not necessarily MSFS related. Again this is a judgement call on my part. I was not trying to "hush" the topic by any means.Since you have requested, I'll move it back.
March 25, 200422 yr Thanks Ken.... If you want to lock or delete this thread, feel free. As I said, it's pretty rare that I've questioned an editing decision, even when my own posts get deleted... :)
March 26, 200422 yr Ya'know, with so many posters crying about the actions of mods these days, it gives me a much higher level of respect for AVSIM seeing a level headed and rational reply to this post, which could have easily have not gotten a reply at all. Thanks Ken, you da man!LOLRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
March 26, 200422 yr Speaking for myself, I absolutely do not mind to hear constructive criticism when it comes to moderating. Sometimes I may not make the most correct decision (gasp!), so how can I grow and learn as a moderator if I don't hear about it?Just keep in mind that as long as a civil discourse can be maintained, there will be no problems. However, as has sometimes been the case in the past, if I make a decision and I get, for lack of a better word, "spirited" responses in my email or on this forum, that tends to not put me in the best of moods! :-lolSo, to summarize, thanks for the post!
