General FS2004 Noob here!

Featured Replies

Hi peeps, I just bought FS2004 yesterday and am checking in with pleas for help with understanding what's available and where it is. Where/what are the good forum boards? I'm looking for a couple helicopters to fly. Any suggestions? Please take into account I'm a noob flyer also. I've tried to do the first lesson but so far my pooter will not give me good enough sound to be able to understand what the guy is saying. I'm s'posed to have a good soundboard but I'll have to tinker. :D

Welcome - this has got to be just about the best forum ,and certainly Avsim has the best file library. That said - if you're into choppers go to http://www.hovercontrol.com/Here you will find d/loads of just about all available helicopters and lots of advice on how to fly them . There is also a helicopter Forum on here - just scroll down the main forum page a bit.Dave

I have to concur with Dave on his advice about Hovercontrol. It's the BEST website available right now for the FS heli community.I have to ask.... what in the world does 'noob' mean? I'm sure it must computer shorthand for something, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what! :-eek I've seen the term before and not knowing what it stands for makes me feel so old! LOL :-lol (Yes, I know... I AM old! :-erks but what the heck. ) -Lindy :-rotor:-wave

Lindy,If you don't know what a n00b is, then you are one yourself! ;-)It is short for "newbie", or one who is a beginner at something.

Also, if you are looking for downloads, first places are the "Big 3" as I call them:www.avsim.com #1!!! ;)www.flightsim.com Right behind Avsim, because their speeds are regulatedwww.simvation.com the other 2's little brother, but just as important. Definately the source for CFS stuff...After that come other sites:www.sim-outhouse.com Great forums, and not as much, but certainly high quality downloadswww.combatfs.com More files for CFS series, but CFS2 aircraft work great in FS...www.netwings.org Also more toward combat sims, but plenty of great sound and texture files...www.hovercontrol.com THE source for helicopter files for FS2002 and FS2004. Biggest heli download site since Keith's Virtual Helipad, god rest it's virtual soul.

You are right about allnodesarebusy.com but you can get in...You just have to hit the refresh button several times. I usually can get in after 10 refeshes (although there have been times when I couldn't get in at all and had to try later). As to the download limit, I noticed that too but there is a way around that. I have been able to come close to maxing-out my DSL line's pittiful bandwidth anyway :)
