Hey everyone!! I'm hoping to start working on a project for my local airport for FS9/FSX. I have absolutely no idea as to where to begin! It's a first for me so ANY help in the right direction as very very appreciated!! What programs do I need? I have AFCAD naturally and AFX bt what else do I need to build objects and make photo real scenery? Everyone tells me I'm crazy to try .....but you gotta start somewhere right!!Thanks for ANY help!Gabe :-)

Hello Gabe,If you want to spend a lot of time reading, then there is a pinned post at the top of this forum concerning scenery design for FS9. Just about everything is covered, although that makes it a little confusing to read. For FS X, a few tutorials are available in the Avsim library:Make photo-real ground textures in Flight Simulator Xhttp://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxsd&DLID=140539This should cover the basics and get you off to a good start. As for object creation, it really depends on your level of skill and technical knowledge. gMax is a free program that was included in previous versions of FS:http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax/In addition, the FS SDK includes the gamepack for gMax - this is the converters to create the file formats that FS uses. However, some people find gMax difficult to master; if you prefer something more straightforward, but with less possibilities, then you could try Google Sketchup, available through Google, I suppose.. You will need to convert the Sketchup files to FS format - try ModelConverterX, available at FSDeveloper (thank you, Arno.)http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=83For any questions, don't hesitate to ask.Congratulations and good luck on your project.Best regards.LuisHello Gabe,If you want to spend a lot of time reading, then there is a pinned post at the top of this forum concerning scenery design for FS9.
