March 25, 201214 yr Have run it 3 times in 30 minutes with the same results- SP1 and 2 are installed.BTW- I know why PMDG doesnt work yet after repair to FSX install, i haven't reinstalled it from the EXE program.thanksDennis Robart
March 25, 201214 yr Most likely overclocking, heating, or system memory issue. Make sure FSX settings are set to default and sliders are not set too high. Remove any "tweaks" to make sure they are not causing the issue too. In order to help you more, you need to provide system specs and info contained in the Event Viewer. The event viewer records what caused the error at the time of each crash. The faulting module is important. Also did you receive a blue screen of death (BSOD)? If so, details are needed.Best regards,Jim
March 25, 201214 yr Author Strangely enough i didn't get any messages, it just shut down, and that is the issue. i expected of course to see a reason given. I also have issue with my monitor screen (flat LCD of course, not the 'T Rex' CRT type)the monitor screen shows diagonal all lines and I have to restart the comp each time this happens. Now the main trouble is getting the comp to stay clear screen wise long enough to either repair or reinstall FSX on the comp here.ThanksDR
March 25, 201214 yr Author Reinstallation of FSX successful, but certain things dont show- for instance you cant get the hide task bar at top of screen- the cursor arrow is black when seen, and also the aircraft appears to sometimes only appear back gradually after switching views, rather than being instantly showing when spot view selection returns.Also- the aircraft folder was saved, but when opening game after reinstallation, only half as many aircraft were shown there, including a few PMDG 747 400s...... Strange????thanksDR
March 25, 201214 yr the cursor arrow is black when seen, and also the aircraft appears to sometimes only appear back gradually after switching views, rather than being instantly showing when spot view selection returnsThis is most likely a symptom of memory starvation (cursor going black/aircraft turning black). I would reinstall the PMDG aircraft and any other commercial aircraft. If you reinstalled FSX, your dll.xml file would have been changed and PMDG options and other required entries would be missing unless you saved the Modules folder and moved it back after reinstalling FSX.Best regards,Jim
March 25, 201214 yr Author Tried to reinstall, was told it would not reinstall need to get support to reissue ticket to help it recognize my info.thanks DR
March 25, 201214 yr Author FYI- the task bar on screen was not showing for any aircraft there. the PMDG aircraft wernt tried, since they havent been reinstalled.ThanksDR
March 26, 201214 yr Author PMDG reinstalled, when you go to fly it, it shuts down FSXAny ideas folks???Thanks DR
March 26, 201214 yr Commercial Member Try to uninstall FSX and all your addons again, and then go to location where your FSX was installed before, and remove all files inside it. Then reinstall FSX outside default location, like to C:MicrosoftMicrosoft Flight Simulator X or something similar. After that install SP1 and then SP2. Load up FSX and let stuff load. After that install your addons and see if they work. If they dont then its probably problem with your system or hardware.
March 26, 201214 yr Author Trouble here is really that the HD may be dying- it makes revving sounds while the comp is on here. the screen also sometimes goes all lines in the midst of working on stuff here, and interrupts attempts to install or remove and repair stuff here.Tried to reduce the workload by buying a USB connected HD, but i am told it wont work with PMDG product, tho it did run the regular FSX ok with less sophisticated add on aircraft tried- POSKY etc. Maybe I just need to scrap old HD and wait to buy a new one when money permits????BTW features such as top of screen task bar/hide task bar not showing as useable was grayed out too.ThanksDR
