March 25, 201214 yr Hi guys!I'm sorry to bother you all as I'm sure this question has been asked before. However, I couldn't find anything that fit my question after searching Avsim.Question is: I've been away from simming for a couple months, and when I booted up my computer the other day, it was running really slowly. Is it normal for this to happen to computers after periods of dormancy? Also, I was thinking... from reviewing, I have tons and tons of payware programs. There are a lot of good ones, but then there are also a lot that I don't use any more. So, I'm curious. Should I reformat my computer and start all over? Or should I go one-by-one and remove the programs I don't use? Part of me thinks that just uninstalling stuff doesn't really give you the same speed boost as a real reformat. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it!Kevin Glover
March 26, 201214 yr Hello Kevin,First off, welcome to AVSIM. I hope you learn as much and have as much fun as many of us have. The decrease in performance could come from any number of reasons. Could you list your computer specifications like in most of our signatures, as well as a list of what FSX addons you run. That way we might be able to give you a worthwhile answer instead of some one size fits all advice.Kind regards,
