Decrease FS9 VC brightness

Featured Replies

Hi, how do I decrease the brightness of the VC for an aircraft in FS9?.. On a bright day, when a pilot looks out and as his eyes get accustomed to the brightness outside, the cockpit gets dark in his peripheral vision. I would like to replicate this for the FS9 VC's, and for the add-on aircrafts as well. (The modified image is what I want it to look like)

No, its not the ENB series mod, just a photo mod to show how I want it to look.

I think you would have to modify the VC texture(s) provided with the model in question, to darken them. Which could cause problems at night if the same texture(s) are used, They would most likely become to dark at night to be usable. On the other hand if there are seperate night VC textures then darkening the daytime set would work as long all of the parameters originals are preserved; format, size etc.Do not forget to make backups!Regards,Mel

Hi, Yeah I darkened my VC textures (after backup) to a significant level but it looks more like a real simulator cockpit than the modified image I've shown here which look more satisfying. I think that's because of the outside being too dull, the outside has to be significantly brighter as well I suppose. How do I do that?.. How do I brighten the ground and sky to almost a point of overexposure.. I've also added a distant heat-haze to my modified image. It would be lovely to have that constant shimmer in the distance. It sure would give you the feel of taxiing around on a hot day!..Thank you Mel!..

I'm sure that might be possible, but other than doctoring more textures - a lot more - or doing it through your monitors setting ( which would put you back where you started with the VC ) I really don't think it practical.Mel
