April 5, 200422 yr I'm one of those people that was plagued with CTD's ever since I installed FS9. Sometimes I'm able to get through a whole flight without any problems. Just a couple days ago though after my last CTD, Windows directed me to update my driver for my chipset. So I went to the Intel site and updated the driver. I haven't had a CTD since updating the driver, but now when I fly in FS9, the scenery textures smooth out and become blurry almost instantly. The aircraft textures also are very slow to load and sometimes go blurry. I maxed out all the bars and still the scenery goes blurry. It's almost as if this new driver stops the CTD's by dumping the heavy load textures right away, allowing the program to run (just a guess). Now to my question: In previous threads about the CTD's there was one that talked about going to the start menu and running a program that could adjust the video/sound card. Can someone direct me to the name of that program again? I did a search through the posts and couldn't seem to find it. I'd like to try and amke some adjustments and see if it doesn't help with the blurriness. Thanks,Mickey Kopanski
April 5, 200422 yr Hi Mickey,More info on your system would be helpful. Until then, (if you're running Win XP) click on Start> Run> type "dxdiag"> then click on the "Sound" tab. Make sure sound acceleration is set to "Basic" (second tick from the left).Regards,
April 5, 200422 yr After updating the chipset drivers, it's a good idea to reinstall Directx9.0b AND the latest graphic card drivers, just to make sure they're all singing off the same hymn sheet. Then, delete all the lines in the fs9.cfg under (DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600.0)Mode=1280x1024x32TriLinear=1AntiAlias=1(this is mine, your's may be different), then re-boot FS. You have to re-set the resolution and a couple of options in the settings menu, but you will force the sim to recognise the card again.Hope this helps.Allcott
April 6, 200422 yr Author Thanks. I'll give both of those a try. It appears to be only with add-on aircraft where this happens. Must be the intense textures with some of these aircraft now-a-days.Mickey
