The advantage of using hardware/services congigurations as described at the BV site is you prevent unwanted services and programs from loading at all. Some services and programs, if shut down after they have already loaded, remain partially memory resident. I boot up to a custom config. for FS9 and then run FSAutostart to shutdown Explorer and defrag memory. This leaves me with 886MB free RAM out of 1024MB.David
