Thank you Fabo and sorry for the delay due to time zone!

So now it is clear. HGS is not a must for autoland. Kind of snake oil!:-)

Well.. don't think I would call it snake oil. With the HGS, you can do a near zero vis

landing hand flying the plane, and not need to do an autoland.  :)
