April 20, 201214 yr So, I'm buying some scenery and sky enhancement stuff shortly, and I'm wondering what I need to buy. I'm getting REX (that's a given), but I'm split between getting UTX USA or getting GEX US+Canada for my scenery. Most of my flights are in Alaska and the United States, I don't really fly in Canada. http://www.fspilotsh...roducts_id=1595 http://www.fspilotsh...roducts_id=1458 Do I need to buy both, or should I just by UTX or GEX? Are they any different, apart from one including Canada also? Thanks

GEX is a texture [replacement] package, and replaces the default FSX scenery texture tiles with much more realistic & area-representative appearing ones. UTX accurately depicts roads, roadways, railyards, coastlines, rivers & streams, etc., and incorporates a more representative landclass component (the mechanism by which respective texture tiles are called into use by FSX for any given area- e.g.: city/urban versus farmland, stoneface versus forest or wooded, suburban versus urban, etc.) than that incorporated into the default FSX. I use both (for all their available regions), and can't recommend them highly enough. Get both, you will be glad that you did! Hope this helps! April 20, 201214 yr UTX USA covers the lower 48 states and Hawai'i. There is a separate Ultimate Alaska product, which is a more enhanced version of the UTX product line. It can be demanding upon a computer, but also offers a great amount of system-specific settings to allow you to enjoy it. GEX NA is a set of replacement ground textures that would show in either UTX USA or Ultimate Alaska. Both products compliment each other well.
April 21, 201214 yr Author Cool, thanks for your great answers. :) I think I'll go ahead and get REX, GEX, and Ultimate Alaska. I fly around here a little too much to stay on the current garbage scenery, I'll get USA later. Thanks again!
