April 22, 200422 yr Hello,I've been adviced to disable rendertotexture (set it to 0) in order to solve some weather programs issues (panel blinking).Would I loose framerates or overall quality by disabling it ?cheersLuca
April 22, 200422 yr Ideally I'd like rendertotexture 's effects to be explained without going into details.however here my specsi86001.7m centrino15.4"atiradeon mobility9600 128Mbomegadrivers 2.356bwindows xp sp1fs2004thanks for your helpcheersLuca
April 22, 200422 yr i believe rendertorender is actually multitexturing...ex. when over textures they have little dots that somewhat improve image quality.
April 22, 200422 yr No, you may even gain framerates, especially in cloudy situalions.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
April 22, 200422 yr I recommend leaving RenderToTexture on, and instead using PanelAsTexture=0 if you are having panel flicker problems.just my US$0.02
April 22, 200422 yr Actually render to texture isn't multitexturing--you can turn that on and off by manipulating the land/water detail slider. What I do know is that having RendertoTexture off can cause issues under some circumstances, including CTD's. Most often they seem related to the sim trying to render certain types of objects in DXT3 format, such as some of the tweaked cloud textures that are available. I have observed the sim with RTT on and off and have noted little change in performance, but as mentioned earlier it seems somewhat better with RTT on. As to the original post which opened the thread, all I can suggest is the user try flying the sim with RTT off and see how things pan out. It can be easily reversed if the user doesn't like the result.-John
April 23, 200422 yr thanks!I'm having panel flickering. I'm also having CTD due to the resize of the screen (from windowed to fullscreen and vicev).basically once resized it shows a black screen and it keeps loading from the HD for 10 seconds before crashing.I believe it would be solved by either using both rendertotexture=1 and panelastexture=0 or only rendertotexture=0.Thanks again, I'll try them both and let you know if I've been any lucky.CheersLuca
