April 24, 200422 yr Hi all !I need the help of experts or real life pilots on this one...First I want to say that everyone should fly the great HRW series from david Dossiere. David, great work !Yesterday I flew flight 43 from Rodriguez ballon (SPQU) to Alejandro Velazco Astete (SPZO). Actually I tried. This was an IFR flight on my dear Learjet 45 (I looove this one). Local time at SPZO was 6:52pm (night) and weather was extremely cloudy. Visibility was close to zero. Furthermore, the region is mountainous to say the least...I was following ATC instruction to land, and these stupid fools quietly crashed me in the hills....Problem is that SPZO has no ILS, no VOR and no lights to assist Instruments landing. So my question is: how should I prepare/fly to land safely in these conditions in real life ?Real life and/or in-game advices highly appreciated. Thanks much !Mike Rookie
April 30, 200422 yr I found this on the net while browsing info on how to land at another tricky airport (VQPR):DANGEROUS APPROACHLast night when flying online from Iquitos to Lima I heard the controller explaining the procedureto land in Cuzco SPZO. Cross Urcos VOR at minimum speed possible and at 16000ft and depart via R-290maintaining 16000. Then at 5DME start descending to 13,500ft. You have to make sure you are fullyestablished in the radial since it is the middle of a canyon that leads to the airport. If you arelucky and are enjoying nice weather you will see the airfield. Switch to manual, runway is 27 so youwill have to make a sharp turn to your left about a mile or two before landing. Runway elevation is10,860ft or 3,310m so be careful with the flaps.I flew it early this morning from SPIM to SPZO and FL270 with real weather, veery nice. Route isSPIM-ASIA-AND-URCOS-SPZO.b.r.RomuloTCA2663Here's the link:http://www.tooby.demon.co.uk/TCATips/Hints_&_Tips_FLYING.wriGary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
May 1, 200422 yr Gary, thanks a lot for your responseI was starting to think nobody was interested in my question, although this kind of issue is what real-life pilots must face every now and then.Anyway...Taking good note of your response. Will fly this one again ASAP.Mike Rookie
May 1, 200422 yr The flight could not have been conducted if the airplane was registered in Canada (thus falling under Canadian rules of air) as landing at an airport not equipped with runway lightning is prohibited.
