April 28, 201214 yr Hello When trying to play the videos in the FS9 learning center the program crashes Any help would be much appreciated regards Brian We need more information about your computer like system specs and what Windows Operating System. Is there an error message displayed? Look into the Windows Event Viewer and see if there is more information on what caused the crash. It would be nice to know the faulting module. Best regards, Jim
April 29, 201214 yr Author Hi Jim I get an error message saying ' Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available ' No solution is forthcoming. Windows Event Viewer basically says the following:- Description: Faulting application name: fs9.exe, version: 9.1.0.40901, time stamp: 0x4135a208 Faulting module name: wmp.dll, version: 12.0.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7ba7f Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00384264 Faulting process id: 0x1290 Faulting application start time: 0x01cd25d5d1fdbf2c Faulting application path: D:\Flight Simulator 9\fs9.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\wmp.dll Report Id: 2ca08ff5-91c9-11e1-9aa5-1c6f6530e790 Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> I also attach dxdiag Hoping you can help regards Brian Brian Lavelle
April 30, 201214 yr Hoping you can help I have 4 potential solutions for your Windows Media Player not operating properly: 1) Check this link at Microsoft for procedures to check if your Windows Media Player is not operating - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-sound/windows-media-player-not-opening-receiving-wmpdll/7bb742e2-3921-471d-b731-571db8495fcc 2) You may have a virus or malware infection. If you have an anti-virus program, run it. For Malware, I strongly recommend the freeware version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. After installing, make sure it is up-to-date - http://www.malwarebytes.org/. Click on the download now icon and it will take you to CNET to download the freeware version. 3) Right click on FS9.exe and select Run As Administrator. You can also right click fs9.exe and click on Troubleshoot Compatibility. You may have to run the program in XP or Vista mode. 4) You may not have had sufficient memory to run the process since you did receive the Exception Code: 0xc0000005 - Memory_Access_Violation. These types of errors are hard to pinpoint but when FS9 was trying to call the Windows Media Player, it crashed. Maybe the video was not located where FS9 thought it should be. Does the error occur no matter what video you are trying to play? Does the Windows Media Player work when you open it up (click on the start button and, in the search bar, type Videos, then look up in the menu and click on Videos. Once open, play a sample video. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Also found the following - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823628. Troubleshooting known video problems with FS9. Best regards, Jim
