aerodesigns a340-300

Featured Replies

Hey Folks! I pose a conundrum to you, a riddle if you will.I got this a340 from aerodesigns, installed it, everything works great, even managed to change the aircraft.cfg so that i can make new liveries show up and it works flawlessly.(little hard on the fps, but works good enough i guess)However i just got one little problem and i know someone will be able to give me the quick answer, tho im sure its been asked before. On the panel, you can change the MFD from Arc, to Rose and to GPS, when i click GPS so i can navigate around the world, i get a blank display. I assume it has to do with the fact the aircraft was designed for fs2k2 and we have a new gps for fs9, but is there a way i can make that panel run off gps? Thanks for the help!Grubs

As far as I know the FS9 GPS is intended to run in its own window. I tried to incorporate it in an FS2002 panel design and couldn't figure out how to. However it might be possible to make a new window for it by referring to the B737 panel config for guidance and that is how I solved my particular instance. I would also suggest deleting the current GPS assignment as it is probably no use in FS9.

thanks for the reply, well looks like its time for me to learn how to mess around with yet another thing in fs9. So if i understand you correctly, i gotta go into the panel.cfg and delete the gps assignment, and then go to the default 737 panel.cfg and find out what they have assigned for the gps, copy and paste it to the 340 panel accordingly? Is this going to cause an issue withe the a340 autopilot not coupling with the gps to navigate? hope not thanks againGrubs

That would be logical to change the reference since FS9 did go to a different GPS Gauge. Can't see why that wouldn't work if you made the changes though.Good luck with it.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg

Hello Again, I tried to find the GPS assignment in the 737 and try and make that work with the aerodesigns a340 and i really have no clue what im doing, it all looks like giberish to me when i start reading it... soo maybe one of you can change it and then post the steps you took to make it work. Did Aerodesigns ever release a patch or something to make this work in FS9 that might save me a lot of trouble ive looked around but havent seen anything.Cheers.Grubs

I don't have the aerodesigns A340, nor do I know if it is payware or freeware, so I'm having to guess a little. Maybe I could have a look at the panel.cfg file to see what I could make of it if you email it to me. [email protected] I don't think the autopilot would be affected, but I'm not sure how the GPS is supposed to fit in with the FMC. All I think I could do is set up the fs9 GPS as a separate window for you.

Look in your default 737 PANEL config file and scroll down to the section under the heading of 'autopilot'.Look for an entry similar to this:gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0,456,377This tells you what number guage it uses and what the FS9 GPS is called.Go to the panel.cfg of the panel you have for the Aerodesigns A340 and look for a similar line under the autopilot heading. I will look different, probably just refering to 'gps' instead of 'fs9gps'. I believe that all you need to do is to replace that line with the one from the default 737 and the A340 will now call the FS9 GPS system instead. It will work correctly with the autopilot because all it's doing is telling the correct and present GPS to work instead of the old outdated and probably non-existant FS2002 GPS.The series of numbers seperated by commas are screen co-ordinates and dimensions, so if you don't like where it appears by default when you switch to it, you can play about with those numbers until you get it to how you like it!Hope this helps... :)
